“I only knew who I was because of who my brothers are,” Kieran, 42, said on the Sunday, Nov. 3 episode of CBS Sunday morning. “So to lose one was to lose a big part of myself. Losing one of my favorite people in the world doesn’t get any easier. But you get used to it.”

Kieran and Dakota are two of Kit Culkin and Patricia BrentrupHis seven children. Ex-spouses also share Macaulay Culkin, Rory Culkin, Quinn Culkin, Shane Culkin and christian culkin. (Kit also shared his daughter Jennifer, who died in 2000 after an overdose, with his ex Adeena Van Wagoner.)

Dakota died at age 29 after being hit and killed in a car accident in 2008, and now remains a frequent memory for her siblings. Macaulay, 44 years old and fiancée Brenda Song named his eldest son in his honor. Kieran, for his part, partially modeled his Succession character after Dakota.

“After a couple of seasons SuccessionI noticed there were some things that Roman did and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s my sister.’ That was his sense of humor,’” added Kieran, who played Roman on the series. Elsewhere in the interview, Kieran detailed their childhood together in New York City before he and his brother Macaulay began acting.

“I remember my mom baking a cake and it came out tilted because the whole apartment was tilted,” Kieran recalled. “We used to put (toy) cars at one end of the kitchen and we would release them and watch them roll! We lived in a small space where there were only seven of us running around. “It was kind of a wolf pack mentality.”

They lived in a four-bedroom apartment in the Big Apple.

“Every time the door opened to let the kids in, I used to step aside and make sure, and I used to count to make sure all six of them got in before I got in,” Kieran added. “That’s how I remember growing up too: I couldn’t fall asleep until everyone was asleep. As if I only existed because they existed around me.”
