A 35-year-old man died after being hit by a speeding car in Pimpri-Chinchwad area of ​​Pune district when he was bursting firecrackers on the roadside.

The accident occurred on November 30 and was captured on CCTV. The victim, identified as Soham Patel, was bursting firecrackers on the side of the road on Diwali eve when a car hit him and fled.

Soham suffered serious injuries on impact and died.

Even after 48 hours, the accused driver has still not been caught. Ravet police have filed a complaint against the unidentified driver and are investigating the accident.

In a separate incident, five children were injured in Pune’s Sinhgad area after the cover of a drainage chamber burst when firecrackers were thrown on it, police said.

Another death related to bursting of firecrackers was reported in Nagpur when a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death, allegedly by a teenager.

The victim, identified as Amol Waghmare, had an argument with a teenager over firecrackers on November 1. During the altercation, the teen attacked Waghmare with a knife, killing him, police said.
