Early voting in Ontario County: How has turnout been distributed so far?

Ontario County voters today have one last opportunity to cast their ballot early for the 2024 general election. Early voting stations, available at the Canandaigua, Geneva and Victor sites, will close at 5 p.m., offering voters a convenient alternative to Tuesday’s Election Day lines.

So far, early participation has been strong, with 15,931 voters casting their ballots in person at all of the county’s early voting sites. Yesterday alone, 1,819 voters visited the polls, bringing total participation close to early voting figures from previous years. Party breakdowns indicate that 5,923 Democratic and working-family voters, 6,157 Republican and conservative voters, and 3,851 registered voters without any party or other affiliation have used early voting.

In addition to early in-person participation, Ontario County election officials issued 5,866 mail-in ballots, of which 4,667 have already been returned. Mail-in participation also shows active engagement, with 2,021 votes cast by members of Democratic and Working Families, 1,565 by Republicans and Conservatives, and 1,263 by unaffiliated or other party voters.

Registered voters who are still undecided about early voting can find open polling locations in the county online. Starting today, those who have not voted will be able to do so on Tuesday at one of the 44 voting centers in Ontario County’s 92 electoral districts.

For Ontario County residents eager to have their voices heard, today’s early voting deadline is a last chance to avoid the crowds on Election Day.
