Viktor Gyokeres responds to Manchester United rumors

Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres responded after being asked if he followed Ruben Amorim to Manchester United.

Manchester United confirmed the appointment of Rubén Amorim on Friday after the Red Devils decided to part ways Erik ten Hag with the club languishing in 14th place in the first division.

Amorim has been questioned about United’s interest this week and will take charge of the club after the international break in November.

The Portuguese manager will face Ipswich Town at Portman Road, which is of course managed by Kieran McKenna. Another Sporting Lisbon star appears to have been questioned about the possibility of a move to Old Trafford.

Viktor Gyokeres on the departure of Manchester United

While all the attention this week has been on Amorim, who will begin his role as United manager on November 11, talk of transfer interest will soon follow.

Amorim will be the head coach Therefore, his influence on transfers will undoubtedly be an interesting topic of conversation. It seems unlikely that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos would allow another coach as much transfer power as they allowed Erik ten Hag.

A new striker appears unlikely to feature prominently on the Old Trafford roster with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee occupying those roles in the team, but that has not stopped speculation about Gyokeres from intensifying.

“I don’t know,” Gyokeres said of a possible move to Old Trafford according to 90 minutes. “I’m here and I really like it here. It’s not something I think about. I’m enjoying here.

“Of course, it is not a normal situation. But we won 5-1 and the team reacted very well. We are professionals and we have to continue like this.

“We are sad to see (Amorim) leave; He is a great professional; It was great for us, but we have to adapt. It’s difficult to talk about the future, but we will definitely do the same job and continue to do our best. We wish you the best. “It’s very good for him.”

United must take the lead in signings with Rubén Amorim

What is clear is that, unlike Ten Hag, Amorim has been named head coach, so the scope of his role at the club will be smaller.

It seems that Amorim will only be in charge of the tactical side and game management, but the transfer business will depend on the board of directors and directors.

Jason Wilcox, Daniel Ashworth and Christopher Vivelli will be in charge of transfers and unless the current impressive crop fails to live up to expectations, Gyokeres seems unlikely to take action.
