The Kerala Police has filed a case against Union Minister Suresh Gopi for misusing an ambulance to reach the Thrissur Pooram festival venue.

Thrissur Pooram is a famous annual temple festival celebrated in Kerala.

The case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Motor Vehicles Act.

On the same day Gopi traveled by ambulance, there were allegations that Thrissur Pooram had been deliberately disrupted.

The opposition has claimed that the Pooram was disrupted to help Gopi, who was then the BJP candidate for the Lok Sabha elections from Thrissur constituency.

Authorities are currently investigating the disruption allegations.

Earlier, Gopi demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the allegations leveled against him for misusing an ambulance to travel to the festival venue.

“This Pooram disturbance is going to boomerang. Contrary to Surendran’s (state BJP president) claim, I did not reach the spot in an ambulance. I reached in a private car, the personal vehicle of the district president. If anyone claims who saw me In an ambulance, they need to clarify whether it was a real show or an illusion. To find the truth, Kerala police under Pinarayi will not be enough; I am ready to face it. They should call the CBI. former and current ministers of Kerala fear being interrogated,” Gopi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI in its report.

However, he later retracted his statement, explaining that he had to use the ambulance because his vehicle was attacked by assailants. During the attack, Gopi reported that he suffered injuries to his legs.
