Saturday is the last day for early voting in South Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – For eligible voters in South Carolina who want to cast their ballot before Election Day, time will run out Saturday night.

The two-week early voting period, which began Oct. 21, ends Saturday at 6 p.m.

A law change in 2022 eliminated the use of a signed form and instead allows voters to use a photo ID to register, making the voting process easier.

The South Carolina State Election Commission says that as of Saturday morning, more than 1.3 million voters took advantage of the opportunity to vote early.

Here’s a breakdown of Lowcountry county totals through Friday:

On the first day of early voting, the state elections commission reported a new single-day record of more than 125,000 early voters.

The previous record, set in 2022, was approximately 70,100.

Every day of early voting this year surpassed the number from 2022, according to SEC records. Friday’s total of 134,642 was this year’s highest day so far.

Those who do not vote on Saturday will be able to vote on election day, this Tuesday. Polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
