Election Day is Tuesday: What you need to know

Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Here’s what you need to know to cast your vote.

Voting Locations in Central Texas

Any registered voter who has not voted early will be able to vote in person on November 5, 2024. Anyone in the following counties can vote at any polling location within the county in which they reside.

Bastrop County | Bell County | Bexar County | Blanco County | Burnet County | Comal County | Hays County | Lee County | Milam County | Travis County | Williamson County

To check again in your specific county, visit the Am I registered? Portal on the website of the Secretary of State. It will list the places where you can vote.

Voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Do I need an ID to vote in Texas?

In order to vote in person during early voting or on Election Day, Texas voters will be asked to present an acceptable form of photo identification. Here is a list of acceptable forms of photo identification:

  • Texas driver’s license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • Texas Voter Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
  • Texas Handgun License Issued by DPS
  • United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph.
  • Certificate of US citizenship containing the person’s photograph.
  • United States passport (book or card)

Here is a list of backup forms of identification that may be presented if the voter does not possess an acceptable form of photo identification and cannot reasonably obtain it:

  • Copy or original of a government document showing the voter’s name and address, including the voter registration certificate
  • Copy or original current utility bill
  • Copy or original bank statement
  • Copy or original government check
  • Copy or original payment check
  • Copy or original of (a) a national birth certificate (from a U.S. state or territory) or (b) a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law that establishes the identity of the voter (which may include a foreign birth document)

When do the polls open on election day?

Polls in Texas are open from 7 a.m. on Election Day until 7 p.m. Anyone who is in line when the polls close will be able to cast their vote.
