The school added: “The police are aware and all relevant authorities have been informed.

“Rest assured that everyone is taking this very seriously as the security of the data we hold is of utmost importance.

“Thank you for all your support and we will update you on the situation when we are able to do so.”

Officers said: “Anyone affected by the incident will be contacted by Lampard Community School in due course.”

The BBC has contacted the Information Commissioner’s Office for comment.
