Man arrested after knife attack

WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – A Monticello man is behind bars after police say he attacked another person with a knife.

Police responded to a report of someone slashing another person’s tires with a knife Wednesday morning.

When they arrived, police said they saw what appeared to be a fight between several people.

Police said they then saw a person get up from the ground with knife cuts.

Michael Santiago López was identified as the perpetrator and arrested after police said he was physically restrained.

Lopez was charged with second-degree assault, six counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Police said they also found narcotics in Lopez’s pockets, which led to a drug possession charge.

Lopez was taken to the Wayne County Detention Center.

The victim was treated at the scene by Wayne County EMS.
