KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday reviewed the ongoing renovation and construction work at the National Stadium in Karachi and said he has ordered timely completion of the project aimed at preparing the venue for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled for Pakistan to host next year.

As the prestigious tournament will bring top international teams to Pakistan, the PCB is focused on ensuring that the stadium meets global standards and provides an enjoyable experience to fans.

During his visit, Naqvi ordered that the stadium’s electronic screen, which currently blocks the view of some fans, be moved to a higher position for better visibility.

“We want fans to be able to watch the games without interruptions, so adapting the location of the screens is a priority,” said the PCB president during his visit.

In addition, he also ordered the parking area to be moved closer to the stadium to improve access and comfort for fans.

“The relocation of the parking area will make things easier for spectators on match days,” he noted.

To ensure the project was completed on time, Naqvi directed the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to expedite the work, stressing the importance of getting the stadium ready ahead of schedule.

“Hosting the Champions Trophy is a great moment for Pakistan and we want the venue to reflect that,” he said.

FWO officials briefed Naqvi about the progress, and advisor Aamir Mir and National Stadium director Arshad Khan were also present.

The PCB remains committed to completing the upgrades by the end of December, setting the stage for a world-class experience during the upcoming tournament.

Last week, ICC sources said Geographic news that the ICC had expressed satisfaction over the detailed information on the arrangements presented by the board officials regarding the mega tournament.

The event will begin from February 19 to March 9, 2025, with the host nation facing uncertainty over the Indian cricket team’s participation in the tournament.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is seeking approval from the Indian government to visit the country for the mega tournament.

The PCB, as reported The newshas proposed that the Indian team can return to their country after each match to minimize their stay in Pakistan during the 2025 Champions Trophy.
