Golfers are being cheated because of poor water management in The Villages

To the editor:

Check out all the golf courses open outside of The Villages and then head to the first hole of Glenview’s Fox Run. It looks like that course won’t open for a while because the fairway is full of standing water. The villages have a clear water management problem: water has to go somewhere. I can’t imagine what it would look like if more than 8 inches of rain fell. Can you imagine what 30 inches would look like? Go play Eagle Ridge. Their retention ponds are empty, no water. You can see how high the water has gotten, but they clearly know how to deal with large amounts of rain. Pretty bad for The Villages. Anyone who knows Florida knows that water has to go somewhere and yes, it’s great that there are no houses under water, but if you like to play golf, this is not a good place to be.
