AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Tinubu’s Assistant Confirms Super Eagles Players Stranded in Libya

The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has confirmed that they are in touch with the Nigerian Mission in Libya over the stranded Super Eagles players.

The Nigerian players and coaches were taken hostage at Al Abraq airport more than fifteen hours after arriving in Libya.

The delegation is in the North African country for a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Mediterranean Knights.

Olusegun wrote on were not yet give them permission to travel to Bayda City, where the airport is located.

“The CDA, however, issued instructions to the head of the Nigerian community in Benghazi, Mr. Morris Eromosele, who arrived there this morning with supplies and internet access.

“The minister continues to monitor the unfortunate event through the CDA and awaits a report for further action.”
