Jerome Resident convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine

BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) – U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwit announced that Jason Earl Wright of Idaho has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Court records show Wright was involved in an Idaho drug trafficking ring that extended into Oregon, even though he operated primarily in Idaho. He was found with a small amount of cocaine, and when he was arrested following his federal indictment, he was found with a loaded handgun, two loaded magazines, more than an ounce of methamphetamine, two cell phones, two scales, small plastic baggies, and two drugs . ledgers.

Senior U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill also ordered Wright to pay a $500 fine and serve four years of supervised release following his prison term.

U.S. Attorney Hurwit praised the work of the various federal and state agencies that led to the indictment and arrest.
