Reports indicate an AT&T network outage

Even in 2024, cell service is still a fickle beast, and it seems like we’ll never have to wait long before hearing about the latest outage of one of the major national networks. This afternoon all our AT&T alarm bells are going off because we notice there is a service outage.

About an hour ago, subscriber reports of problems with AT&T started piling up on Down Detector. We also find complaints on social media, and on Reddit’s AT&T subuser Wild-Distribution759 has started a thread where other AT&T users share their own problems.

For some affected users, service goes in and out. This could also be a bigger problem than just an issue on AT&T’s wireless network, and we’re seeing landlines affected as well. Some users are reporting that service is already coming back, but because the outage is intermittent for some, we’ll keep an eye on it.
