Man, 47, held on $250,000 bond in connection with child sex crimes in Manhattan

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – A man was being held on $250,000 bond at the Riley County Jail Wednesday following his arrest on child sex crimes charges, officials said.

The arrested man was identified as Carey Paul Cortez, 47, of Manhattan.

According to officials with the Riley County Police Department, Cortez was arrested around 8:37 a.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Baehr Place on Manhattan’s West Side.

Cortez was booked into the Riley County Jail on four counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, officials said. In all counts, the victim was listed as under the age of 14.
