Sergio Garcia confirms that a new player will join Fireballs GC in 2025

Sergio Garcia has confirmed to GolfMagic that Eugenio Chacarra will be replaced at Fireballs GC by a new player ahead of the 2025 LIV Golf season.

Garcia, 44, spoke exclusively to GolfMagic ahead of hosting its third annual FORE Kids ATX golf tournament & PAR-Tee on Nov. 1-2, which contributes to the Sergio & Angela Garcia Foundation.

The 2017 Masters champion discussed a number of current topics with GolfMagic editor Andy Roberts, including a possible return for him to the DP World Tour and European Ryder Cup team.

Garcia also gave his assessment of Yasir Al-Rumayyan and Jay Monahan’s last meeting, his thoughts on Rory McIlroy’s U-turn and why he is no longer concerned about receiving Official World Golf Ranking points.

After speaking to us about his impressive third-place finish in LIV Golf’s individual rankings this season, Garcia revealed one change will be made to his 2025 Fireballs GC lineup.

Chacarra, 24, will unfortunately be moved after finishing 39th in the standings this season.

“There will be one new player,” Garcia told GolfMagic.

“Unfortunately, Eugenio Chacarra finished outside the top 24 and his contract is expiring.

“We are very grateful for everything he has done over the last two and a half, three years.”

Fireballs GC currently consists of Garcia, Abraham Ancer and Davig Puig, who recently posted back-to-back top-five finishes on the DP World Tour.

Garcia could not yet confirm to GolfMagic who his next signing will be, but he did tell us he will be “a bit of a different profile type of player.”

The new Fireballs GC player is expected to be announced within the next two months.

“We’re working on it and hopefully we’ll have something before the year ends,” Garcia continued.

“It’s exciting to look at different options and when you look at someone, the team can improve in every aspect.

“I think this is the end game, to make the team better as LIV Golf moves forward.

“Sometimes you have to make little changes here and there, I guess.”

Chacarra hit the ground running when he first joined LIV Golf in 2022 with a win in just his fifth start at the Bangkok circuit.

But he has since failed to live up to the early hype, with just two top-10 finishes in the past two LIV Golf seasons.

Garcia’s Fireballs GC won the team event at LIV Golf Andalucia 2024 in July, a tournament that marked the captain’s first individual win at the circuit.

Fireballs GC finished sixth in the standings.
