Scouts gather in southern Vermont to honor veterans

BRANDON, Vt. (WCAX) – Hundreds of people gathered in southern Vermont to help show appreciation to the state’s veterans this weekend.

Scouts gathered in Brandon Saturday morning to honor U.S. military veterans ahead of Monday’s observation.

The Green Mountain Council, which organized the 26th edition of the parade, chooses a different city each year to honor veterans.

“Their opportunity is to really give back and strengthen our way of life here, which is what our service men and women have done so much to defend, so coming here today will be something they can really show their appreciation. and I think our veterans need to make sure they know they are appreciated here at home,” said Mark Saxon of the Green Mountain Council.

Officials said more than 300 scouts attended the Vermont-only parade.
