A hit ITV legal drama that was hailed as a ‘must see’ has confirmed its return.

Australian show The Twelve is back for a third series after becoming ITVX’s most streamed premiere.

And it has already become a huge success in Britain after being streamed more than 26 million times since its launch in February 2023.

The third series sees Sam Neill reprise his role as lawyer Brett Colby and is set in Perth’s Margaret River region.

He teased the show’s loyal fan base ahead of the series, saying: “With lots of twists and surprises, it will keep you guessing until the end.”

The plot for the new series has yet to be revealed as season two has only just aired.

But the concept of The Twelve will see twelve new jurors struggle with their duty as they pass judgment and battle their own personal issues.

Following the announcement, Foxtel Group Commissioner & Executive Director, Entertainment Content Alison Hurbert-Burns said: ‘The Twelve is a favorite of the Foxtel and Binge audiences and following that success we’re delighted to be bringing a third season of this premium award into service to take. winning drama.

“After such a great experience filming season 2 of The Twelve in WA last year, it’s great to be back and this time taking audiences to Margaret River and Western Australia’s dramatic south-west coast.”

The new season consists of eight one-hour episodes and is written by Sarah L. Walker, Matt Cameron, Mia Lethbridge, Adele Vuko and Sam Meikle.

The series is directed by Madeleine Gottlieb and Mark Joffe (Jack Irish).

The Twelve is an adaptation of the Belgian miniseries The Twelve from 2019 by Sanne Nuyens and Bert Van Dael.

The series is produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia and Easy Tiger with production investment from Screenwest and the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive and will be distributed worldwide by Fifth Season.

Managing Director of Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia Michael Brooks said it was “fantastic” to showcase the country’s beautiful scenery.

“It has been fantastic to see seasons 1 and 2 of The Twelve take off with both Australian and global audiences, showcasing not only our beautiful country, but also the depth of our local filmmaking talent,” they said.
