ELMORE COUNTY, Alabama (WBRC) – An Elmore County grand jury has returned no indictments in the Daniel Williams case.

Williams was allegedly beaten, tortured and sexually assaulted in October 2023 at Staton Prison in Elmore. He was from Jefferson County.

The case was investigated by the Law Enforcement Services division of the Alabama Department of Corrections.

District Attorney CJ Robinson said it took a long time to hear the evidence and for the grand jury to deliberate, but they did not receive 12 votes to indict.

Robinson said if any new evidence comes to light, he could file the case again.
