RBW EV Cars Hires NASCAR Veteran Peyton Sellers for New Pittsylvania County Facility

London-based electric car maker RBW EV Cars is set to open its first U.S. facility in the Danville-Pittsylvania County area and is adding a Danville native and NASCAR veteran to the team.

RBW EV Cars announced Thursday that it has hired two-time NASCAR Late Model Stock Car Series national champion Peyton Sellers as its director of U.S. operations.

The new facility will produce the company’s first left-hand drive RBW EV Roadster and GT models for the US market. The project will create 144 new jobs.

The Danville Economic Development Office and RBW Executive Director Peter Swain contacted Sellers about eight months ago with the opportunity. He said that after seeing the passion they had for their brand and product, he knew this was something he wanted to be a part of.

“I saw the quality in them,” Sellers said. “I saw how they were doing things in the UK and it was top notch. They were very nice built cars. They were doing it the right way. They weren’t trying to rush it. “They’re not trying to grow too fast, but they need to be able to assemble their cars in the United States to be more efficient and productive.”

Salespeople will be responsible for setting up the assembly line, getting the factory up and running, and distributing the cars where they need to go.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to be able to come and tune my guts, adjust to life in America and build cars,” Sellers said. “And for me, I have a goal to accomplish with them. I have a mission and that is to build cars as effectively as possible and help them build their brand. So we have work to do and I’m looking forward to it.”

“In addition to his passion for racing, Peyton has been assembling vehicles for many years,” RBW EV Cars wrote in a press release. “This includes custom builds for commercial clients throughout the United States, as well as large-scale production assemblies in his own company. Peyton’s knowledge of automobile assembly, including his local business and government relationships, were key to the expansion RBW International in Southern Virginia.

RBW’s new U.S. facility will be located in the Cane Creek Industrial Park in Ringgold. They plan to be open for production in January.
