21-year-old man arrested for recent homicide in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – Birmingham police say a 21-year-old man from Trussville has been arrested for a murder that occurred on November 4.

Amauria Caffey was shot and killed in the 1600 block of 5th Street North.

Malik Farris is charged with murder, first-degree theft of property and first-degree criminal mischief.

Police say the robbery and criminal mischief charge stems from Farris’ actions after the shooting involving Caffey’s property.

A preliminary investigation reveals that the shooting stemmed from an altercation earlier that day involving a member of the Caffey family and another person.

Farris is in the Jefferson County Jail without bond after turning himself in.
