Grand Island man convicted in gun theft case

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – A Grand Island man will be sentenced in January for a case involving dozens of gun crimes.

Hall County District Court records show Tethloach Tut, 20, pleaded no contest and was found guilty of felony possession of stolen firearms. Forty other robbery and weapons charges were dismissed in a plea agreement.

Police arrested Tutankhamun last year. after a man reported someone broke into his home in the 1400 block of N. Locust and stole 21 firearms along with a high school championship wrestling ring.

Court records show Hall County deputies later located a group of people shooting firearms on S. Locust, still within city limits.

Tut and Angel Gatto, 20, were among the group contacted. The next day, agents served a search warrant at Gatto and Tut’s home, locating the wrestling ring and the stolen ammunition.

Gatto was sentenced to five years probation last month for convictions for possession of a stolen firearm, attempted robbery and drug possession.

Tut is scheduled to be sentenced on January 8, 2025 and could receive up to 20 years in prison.
