Former All-Pro center Jason Kelce on Wednesday used his popular podcast to express his regret over an altercation over the weekend on Penn State’s campus.

In an incident that was captured on videoKelce responded to a caller who called his brother Travis a homophobic slur. Grabbing the heckler’s phone and throwing it to the ground..

In the last episode of his “New Heights” PodcastJason called it “a really stupid situation” that quickly got out of control.

“My reaction gave it the time of day and also brought notoriety to the situation,” he said. “Now I know I shouldn’t have done it because now there’s a video of me saying that word and him saying that word and it’s not good for anyone.”

Kelce was in State College, Pennsylvania, on Saturday for ESPN’s “College GameDay” and was interacting with fans when one of them used a homophobic slur in reference to his brother dating Taylor Swift.

Penn State University Police and Public Safety are investigating the incident.

Kelce admitted his actions “crossed the line” when he grabbed the fan’s phone and threw it to the ground. In the video, Kelce could be heard saying, “Who’s the (expletive) now?”

He said repeating the insult was a mistake because it “simply perpetuates more hate.”

On the podcast, Brother Travis took a sympathetic tone.

“You reacted in a way that defended your family and you may have used some words that you regret,” he said. “And that’s a situation that you have to learn from and take ownership of. I think owning it and talking about it shows how sincere you are with a lot of people in this world… You don’t choose hate, that’s just not who “You are. I love you brother, I think you said it perfectly.”
