Westbrook man sentenced after robbery, threat at South Portland bank

PORTLAND, Maine (WABI) – A Westbrook man was sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday in U.S. District Court for a bank robbery in which he threatened to blow up the building.

Jason Arsenault, 41, of Westbrook, stopped at a self-service window at a South Portland bank in January.

Using the tube, he gave the teller a note that said “CAR BOMB No police alarms or WE WILL ALL BE DONE $50,000 in 20,” according to court records.

The teller put cash in the tube and Arsenault left.

He was arrested six days later and told authorities where the money was.

All but $1,700 was recovered, which he was ordered to pay.
