Mavericks starter ruled out against Chicago Bulls

The Dallas Mavericks received two major injury updates on Tuesday. They are off to a 4-3 start to the season with an upcoming matchup against the Chicago Bulls at the American Airlines Center on their home court.

As fans await a verdict on Dereck Lively’s injury, the club provided the status of his game for the upcoming matchup against the Bulls. Lively is questionable as her results have not yet been made public due to her shoulder sprain.

However, the team will be without a starter, as PJ Washington is out with a sprained right knee.

“Mavs PF PJ Washington will be out against the Bulls tomorrow due to a sprained right knee,” ESPN’s Tim McMahon reported. “C Dereck Lively II (right shoulder sprain) is questionable after he was injured late last night”.

Having the trio of Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson should give the Mavericks the peace of mind that they can come out of a game against the Bulls with a win. However, the two injured players are crucial to the club’s long-term success and prioritizing their full health and erring on the side of caution is the smartest move they can make.

The Bulls could be without star guard Zach LaVine, who is dealing with an adductor strain. They will not have Lonzo Ball either. Josh Giddey is likely suffering from a non-Covid related illness.

There are other injuries on both sides as well, but those are the key injuries to starters or key rotational pieces.

The Mavericks are 10.5-point favorites over the Bulls a night before kickoff.
