Dune Prophecy; When is the Tabu Led prequel and how does it relate to OG Films?

The Dune Prophecy trailer has just been released and fans are excited about the spin-off of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films. The series coming to HBO is a prequel to the film and will premiere on November 17, 2024. The show is helmed by executive producer Jordan Goldberg and showrunner and executive producer Alison Schapker, with a talented cast including Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel and our own actress Tabu. Her first look dropped earlier this year, fans were already excited and the trailer has dropped even more hints about her.

A trailer revealed plot details and a new cast member for the franchise. Dune: Prophecy will feature major players in the history of the Dune universe. The clip confirms that the show will focus on the Harkonnen sisters, specifically Emily Watson’s Valya Harkonnen and Olivia Willaims’ Tula Harkonnen. However, the sisterhood is not exactly welcomed in Arrakis, unlike the film they are seen as a silent threat to the empire. The show also explores the feud between House Harkonnen and House Atreides. According to reports, the show will have six episodes, but there is no confirmation on whether it will be multi-season.

Dune: Prophecy is set approximately 10,000 years before Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films. As the trailer suggested, the show will explore the origins of the Bene Gesserit, their abilities, power in the world, and more. For the inexperienced. Bene Gesserit are the group of women with supernatural abilities who secretly influence the entire Dune universe from the shadows, including the universe’s royal families. One of their main goals, as indicated in Dunes 1 and 2, is to produce the one true savior of humanity. Their main goal is to gain enough power to unite the Houses and produce a superhuman who will save humanity.

In the Dune films, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet)’s mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) is a Bene Gesserit. The first and second films show her training her son in their ways of gaining power and perfecting them. During a media interaction, showrunner Alison Schapker revealed that the show will explore more about the Bene Gesserit than what is presented in the films. She was quoted by USAToday as saying, “In the movies they are all in their prime and making their moves, but they are shrouded in a kind of intrigue. We certainly don’t want to take them away.” mystical, but we do go behind their closed doors and see how they work.”

Since the show is set 10,000 years before the films, the same characters may not exist in the houses, but their stories certainly do. Speaking about the connection between the prequel and the films, showurnner Schapker explained that this is set “on the other side of the rise of artificial intelligence.” She revealed that the show will pick up after the war that ended when all AI and thinking machines were banished from the Dune universe.

She added that the show explores humanity: “People have had to strive to fill the void of things that used to be done by technology. Now people are coming to try to push the boundaries of what it means to be human so that they can do that.” filling that gap… It lets us ask questions about the role of technology in a new way.”
