NYPD investigates attempted child kidnapping in the Bronx

BRONX, NY – A woman and her 2-year-old child were followed into a laundry room by an unknown person Tuesday evening, according to police reports. The incident occurred at 988 East 180th Street at approximately 6:50 p.m.

The suspect allegedly grabbed the 23-year-old woman by the arm and demanded that she hand over her child. The mother was able to escape the individual, police said, and the child was not struck.

After the confrontation, the person fled the scene and took an elevator to the 12th floor of the building, authorities reported. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Police continue to investigate and no arrests were made Wednesday.
