What Matthew Boyd said after the Guardians won ALCS Game 3

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Matthew Boyd has already made a name for himself in the postseason in a short stint with the Guardians after posting a crucial American League Championship Series Game 3 victory over the Yankees.

The 33-year-old, who signed a one-year, $740,000 contract with the Guardians on June 27, already pitched in a must-win scenario in Game 5 of the ALDS against the Tigers. He found himself in a similar situation on Thursday.

The left-hander became the first Guardians starter since Cal Quantrill on October 16, 2022 in the ALDS to throw five innings. Boyd left Game 3 of the ALCS after throwing five innings and 75 pitches, allowing one earned run on two hits and three walks while fanning four batters. Boyd has a 0.77 postseason ERA in three starts this year.
