PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An eastern Carolina county school district named a new superintendent this afternoon.

The Pitt County Board of Education voted to name Dr. Steve Lassiter as permanent superintendent during a 5:00 p.m. meeting.

WITN reported on May 6 that Lassiter would take over as interim superintendent after former superintendent Dr. Ethan Lenker retired.

Lassiter had been the school district’s deputy superintendent. The Edenton native began his educational career in 2004 as a teacher after graduating from ECU.
