How to get the gun

In the critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remakeplayers don’t have a huge choice of weapons to shoot enemies with. But one of the most powerful weapons in the game is the shotgun, and getting one can make a big difference in combat.

This gun can take out enemies from a distance, making players feel a little safer since the game often throws enemies at them out of nowhere. If you want to survive longer and make fights easier, grabbing the shotgun should be a top priority. Here’s how players can find the shotgun and add some serious firepower to their inventory.

How to get the gun in Silent Hill 2 Remake

The shotgun is established in a place called Toluca Prison arsenal, which players won’t have until the later stages of Silent Hill 2 remake. To get there, players must first progress through the story until James visits the Silent Hill Historical Society building.

Once inside, players descend a long staircase that takes them to an underground prison-like area. After making their way through this creepy underground area, players will come across a square hole in the ground.

James must jump through this hole to reach an even lower level of the prison. From here, players continue and find another hole behind a door closed by a gate.

This gate is locked by a key item called the Spiral-Writing key, which you can find in a nearby room. Once they unlock the gate with this key, James can fall down and eventually reach Toluca Prison.

Obtain the armory key and solve the puzzle

Once players reach Toluca Prisonthey must search until they find the armory. In the armory they see the shotgun locked behind a gun safe. To get their hands on this, players will need the Armory Key, which will also involve solving some previous puzzles as they explore the prison. Silent Hill 2 remake.

An important part of this is getting the heaviest item from a church-like area. This weight must be placed on a scale in the prison to unlock a door, the so-called Snake Door.

Once the door is open, players must navigate the area and deal with more enemies and puzzles until they reach a section with an electric chair puzzle. Completing this puzzle will open several locked cells, leading to a tough combat area where players must fight their way through enemies to progress.

After going through this intense section, players can finally unlock the armory’s weapon vault using the Armory Key. Inside they find the shotgun.

However, players should be careful about how they use it, as the ammunition for the gun is quite limited. It’s a good idea to concentrate on each shot individually and not burn the ammo, and make it count before you pull the trigger.
