Two city men arrested for domestic violence in separate incidents

What started as a “stupid reasoning” allegedly escalated into a full-blown assault, a female victim reluctantly told Lycoming Regional Police when they responded to an address in the 1900 block of Princeton Avenue on Oct. 13, according to an affidavit.

The alleged victim, with a black and black eye and other new bruises on her forehead, was afraid of the alleged aggressor, 37-year-old Francis Jose Nery, and initially refused to answer police questions. She then told police that Nery was angry because she wouldn’t let him in, according to court documents.

Both the alleged victim and neighbors interviewed by police stated that Nery had banged on the back door of the home before going to the front door and then left when he heard police were on their way.

A neighbor said the banging was so loud it sounded like a door slam and the front door of the home appeared to have been almost completely kicked in, authorities allege.

Nery initially fled the scene, but returned shortly after police left and continued banging on the door.

Upon returning to the residence, officers noted the presence of a 2023 Jeep Cherokee that was not present during their previous visit.

Nery smelled of alcohol, had shiny eyes and repeated himself excessively, police allege.

Nery told officers he had only had one beer. He argued during his encounter with police and had difficulty understanding officers’ instructions, authorities said.

Nery was arraigned by District Judge William Solomon on charges of simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and driving under the influence and was remanded to the Lycoming County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail.

In another case, when city police arrived at a home in the 700 block of West Third Street, they found a female victim with several recent injuries to her face, neck and upper chest, according to court documents.

Despite initially telling police that the injuries were caused by a fall, the alleged victim later stated that the injuries were caused by Dontay James Gulledge, 22, of 761 W. Third St., although she was afraid and reluctant to comment further to elaborate, according to court documents.

‘I will kill you and your family’ Gulledge told the alleged victim, according to a witness who heard the incident, who also said they heard what they believed was the alleged victim being punched multiple times, authorities said.

Gulledge had a swollen right hand, which police said was consistent with hitting a person in the head.

District Judge Christian Frey indicted Gulledge on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and intimidation. He was jailed at Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Lewisburg resident charged in hit-and-run

According to city police, a victim suffered a broken neck after being struck by a motor vehicle allegedly driven by Alec Matthew Reed, 22, of 2945 Westbranch Highway, Lewisburg, just after 3 a.m.

Several witnesses interviewed separately by police reported that a vehicle driven by Reed drove through an unspecified alley at a high rate of speed, estimated at between 45 and 60 mph, until it reached a dead end, at which point it made a U-turn . , striking the alleged victim, an affidavit said.

Reed then fled the scene at a high rate of speed, witnesses told police, according to court documents.

He was arraigned by District Judge Christian Frey on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person and booked into Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

An alleged victim stated that when Eddins left the store, he sat in the driver’s seat of his vehicle and reversed him out of the stall, authorities said.

As the owner approached, Eddins stopped the vehicle and a physical altercation ensued during which the alleged victim was struck multiple times with a closed fist, authorities allege in court documents.

Eddins was arraigned by District Judge Christian Frey on charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, simple assault, disorderly conduct and intimidation, and was remanded to Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $ 50,000.
