10 tips to make your friends fall in love

Super Mario Party Jamboree has just launched, but fans of the board game franchise are already finding strategies they can use to gain victory over their opponents. There are seven boards in Jamboree, so you may need to know a little about each map and Jamboree Buddy if you want to beat your family and friends.

If you’re looking for Mario Party Jamboree tips and strategies, you’re in the right place. These are the ten most important strategies that you should always employ while partying like there is no tomorrow. Some of the tips below only apply to certain boards or while playing with the Setting up professional rules.

Marty Party Jamboree - Rainbow Galleria Board

nintendo

Rainbow Galleria has many unique mechanics, including a stamp sheet that you can use to collect various stamps across the board. Eventually you can turn in your Stamp Card for 50 coins if you have all the stamps, or 10 coins each if you haven’t finished the sheet yet.

Although it may be tempting to grab leftover coins even if you haven’t collected all the stamps, it’s best to save them until they are complete. The maximum number of coins can determine who wins the game, so you will need as many as possible to increase your chances of securing victory.

Mario holding a block of dice

nintendo

Each Jamboree Buddy grants the user a unique ability or bonus, so there are many ways to strategize around the Buddy mechanic. Mario increases the final number of your dice roll by up to 8 points, so it’s worth using special dice and other items as you work hand-in-hand with the Italian plumber.

If you’re trying to reach a star or another point of interest on the board, then Mario is one of the best Jamboree Buddies you can have by your side. If you don’t have any special dice but have Mario as a friend, you’ll at least have a slightly better dice roll than usual.

Mario Party Jamboree - Two Stars

nintendo

While playing Mario Party Jamboree, you will have the opportunity to steal coins or stars at various points in a match. While stealing coins instead of stars may seem counterproductive, it’s often the best way to do it, especially if you’re playing with experienced players who understand each board.

The reason why stealing coins is better than stars is because once you steal a star from another player, they will definitely want it back. Often a player will be tasked with recovering the stolen star, so choosing coins to steal and choosing a random opponent is the best way to avoid opponents out for blood. If you end up losing the star, then you will have wasted 50 coins and that is not a worthwhile gamble while playing competitively.

Mario with Luigi - Super Mario Party Jamboree

nintendo

This tip is only relevant when playing with Pro Rules enabled because stores run out of stock while playing with the competitive ruleset. If you arrive at a shop on your first or second turn, it is wise to pick up a double die or another useful item that you can save for later.

However, it is advisable to wait until future turns to use your items. For example, if you use Double Dice at the beginning of a match when you don’t have many coins, it won’t be worth it to get to the star since you won’t be able to buy it anyway.

With Pro Rules, Lucky Space has undergone an exciting transformation. You can now choose your reward for landing on a Lucky Space: a double die or 10 coins. Buying Double Dice only costs 5 coins, so you’re better off taking the 10 coins and then buying a Double Dice from the store.

As long as Double Dice is not sold out yet, extra coins will always be the best option since you will get 5 extra in addition to the special dice. You can now use your new coins to purchase a second item or place them on a star.

Mario and Bowser Jr competing

nintendo

The 10 Coin Steal Trap is a powerful item in Mario Party Jamboree. You can place it anywhere you want, and if an opponent lands on it, they will have to give you 10 coins. Although they can be placed anywhere, Lucky Spaces are by far the best because they will help reverse the bonus your opponent just received.

Placing the trap on a normal blue or red space may be fine, but it won’t help offset the situation as much, as Lucky Spaces offer the highest coin reward. You can also place a 10-coin steal trap in special spaces, but whether you must do so depends on very specific circumstances.

Mario Party Jamboree - Peach surrounded by yellow

nintendo

Getting a Jamboree Buddy comes with many benefits, but perhaps the most useful feature is the ability to perform certain actions twice. You can buy two stars when you have a Jamboree Buddy, and Princess Peach cuts the price of stars in half if she follows you.

If you can, try to reach a star while you have a Jamboree Buddy so you can double your reward. It’s also a good idea to save up special dice and other items if you think you might get a follower during your current game.

Margarita chasing Waluigi

nintendo

If you play with Pro Rules, you will be able to choose an element at the beginning of each game. The best item to choose is the Cellular Shopper because it allows you to summon the Koopa Troopa Shop anywhere on the board. Although Warp Block and Chomp Call are also strong contenders, Cellular Shopper is better because the items in the store are limited.

If you can summon a shop whenever you want, then you can beat your opponents to buy an item at any time during the game. The versatility of the Cellular Shopper makes it the best item to pick up at Mario Party Jamboree.

Mario Party Jamboree: four players competing in a minigame

nintendo

This tip may seem basic at first, however, it’s easy to get lost in the fun during the mini-games. While competing, you should always prioritize beating the player with the most stars, coins, or items, as mini-games can level the playing field when you’re in a pinch.

Even if you defeat the winning player but still lose to a different opponent, you will have prevented them from running ahead of you even further, which will help you win in the end. Likewise, it is always best to defeat the last player at the end of the minigame.

Waluigi with yellow background

nintendo

Waluigi may be a fan-favorite character, but he’s a pain in the ass at Mario Party Jamboree. When an opponent has Waluigi as a Jamboree Buddy, he can steal between 3 and 8 coins every time he passes you on the board. Typically, you’ll want to be close to the Jamboree Buddy because you can steal them if you get past your opponent, but Waluigi is a unique circumstance.

Always move in the opposite direction from Waluigi. Otherwise, you might lose some coins. It might be worth trying to steal Waluigi from the opponent, but only if it’s Waluigi’s first round, since Jamboree Buddies only lasts three turns.
