Former Danville man gets life sentence for child sex abuse | News

DANVILLE – A Vermilion County Circuit Judge has sentenced a former Danville man to life in prison on six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, all Class X felonies.

Robert McIntire convicted Robert Musson, 59, after he was found guilty in a jury trial that concluded on August 14 – a trial that included testimony from the child victims.

The jury heard testimony that Danville police received reports that the two minors had been sexually abused by Musson between 2016 and 2020.

The victims then told the court what Musson had done to them.

McIntire heard compounding evidence during the sentencing hearing, when an additional victim described the sexual abuse she suffered as a child. The victim said that after she told a family member about the abuse following one of the incidents, Musson told her he was sorry.

In a victim impact statement provided to the court during sentencing, the mother of one victim said: “When the children were growing up, I tried to protect them from monsters, not knowing that the biggest monster lived under the same roof.”

The Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center and the Peoria Child Advocacy Center assisted Danville police with the investigation and interviews.
