New York Jets compare Garrett Wilson’s stunt score to Odell Beckham Jr.

So, it was New York Jets Is wide receiver Garrett Wilson’s incredible one-handed touchdown grab really better than the one former New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. made all those years ago?

That was one of the topics of discussion when the Jets met with the media after their 21-13 victory over the Houston Texans on Thursday.

Wilson, when asked, demurred and said Beckham’s catch was better. But then a reporter reminded him that the Giants lost that game and he said, “It’s okay. Alright.”

“I’m happy to be able to make a play for my teammates.” Wilson said.

In the last quarter of Thursday’s game wilson He made one of the most incredible catches I have ever seen. While running a route, Wilson turned around, grabbed the ball with his right hand and carried it for what became the go-ahead touchdown catch.

The catch, which was originally deemed incomplete but overturned after it was determined that Wilson lowered his left foot and shin before his left knee went out of bounds, thus establishing possession while landing on his right foot, drew immediate comparisons to the Beckham’s incredible reception against the Dallas Cowboys.

That reception, which came in 2014, also came in a prime-time game at Met Life Stadium and was similar in its development.

So, here’s Wilson’s trick:

And here’s Beckham’s trick:

So who did it better? Everyone had an opinion, including Jets defenders like Sauce Gardner.

“Man, that was a tough play.” Gardner said. “That was good defense. Man, you know corners aren’t easy, especially if you have to go up against someone who can do weird things like Garrett, you know what I’m saying? He is different. That trick is up there… I’m not going to say it’s better than Odell’s. I really have to look at Odell’s catch one more time, you know what I’m saying?

Cornerback DJ Reed went there during an interview with SNY while Wilson was nearby.

“That’s a bad boy,” Reed told sny while pointing towards Wilson. “That’s a bad man. That’s the catch of the year. …That’s better than actually catching Odell, I’ve never seen anything like that. For that to be Thursday night, in prime time, that’s what those guys are.”

Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich was working with the referee trying to get the play overturned.

“Oh my God,” Ulbrich said. “I mean, I was talking to the referee when they were reviewing it and I said, ‘Just for the sake of posterity you have to say that that’s in history so it goes down in history.’ I mean it would rival the capture of Odell (Beckham Jr.). “It was incredible.”

Wide receiver Davante Adams, who was being evaluated for a concussion as the play unfolded, was ready to get Wilson a new shoe deal.

“I told him they might kick him out of Adidas after that.” he said. “That one looked like he was headed to Jumpman with me, so we’ll see. I’m going to talk to some people about that, but it’s possible that… I won’t say they’ll replace the logo because I know Mike (Michael Jordan) might not like me saying that. But it was a tough catch and I actually saw it about three minutes ago.”

Wilson recalled watching Beckham’s game in his living room in Texas as a child. He said his father was a Cowboys fan and wasn’t happy after that catch. He was typically humble after the game and said he was happy to be able to do something to help his team win.

Adams, a veteran who has made big catches like that, seemed to understand the moment.

“To be able to do that in front of 80,000 and maybe millions of viewers at home is special,” he said.
