Brian Sorensen press conference: Everton vs Chelsea preview

Everton manager Brian Sorensen spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s Women’s Super League match against Chelsea at Goodison Park (kick-off 18:45 GMT).

These are the key lines from his press conference:

  • As for injuries, Sorensen said it was “not the best international window for us” and some players need to be evaluated.

  • He does not believe Clare Wheeler will be available on Sunday after suffering illness.

  • When asked about Everton’s problems in front of goal, Sorensen said: “That’s something we have to sort out.”

  • And he added: “I think we have players in the squad to do it (score), but those we have out (injured) lack a lot, a lot of quality.”

  • The Everton manager is hopeful that his team can pick up “four or six” points in the upcoming games before the next international window.

  • On Megan Finnigan, Sorensen said she is struggling with injury problems, but added: “She is a true Blue and Evertonian, she loves the club and is a really good captain.”

  • Chelsea have an “unreal” squad and it will be “the biggest ask” to win them three points on Sunday.

  • Sorensen said “we have to give our best, like we did at the Emirates” when they drew 0-0 with Arsenal earlier this season.
