Feeling the loss of Glenn Durkee, who was one of us

On my frequent trips to Boston from Cape Cod, I always looked forward to running into Glenn Durkee on Beacon Hill (“A man who brought more than just money to Beacon Hill.” Page A1, October 30).

The homeless are us. For much of his life, Glenn, who died Oct. 7 at age 64, was homeless.

Sometimes it’s hard to remember that we are one human family and what we do (or, really, what we don’t do) for each other becomes part of a legacy we bequeath.

It was a pleasure and honor to call Glenn a friend.
