Big Brother star criticized for ‘mean’ comments about Palestinian housemate

TO Big Brother A housemate has come under fire for comments that were branded “mean” about another star’s Palestinian origin.

Nathan, the Nigel Farage-loving pork salesman left viewers furious after claiming model Khaled has not spoken enough about his refugee background.

During a task on tonight’s episode, Nathan, 24, was asked: “Who do you think is holding back your true self?”

He replied: “I had problems with this one but unfortunately I’m going to go with Khaled.”

“When we have a conversation, maybe he spends too much time looking at the camera and not at the person sitting in front of him.

“I assume Khaled will have a lot of opinions about things that are happening around the world that may be close to him, but I thought he would be more explicit in his thoughts on that.

“When we talk about politics and current affairs in the world in Israel or Lebanon, not everyone has to be as frank as me and say what they think and that’s fine, but he is holding back from his true self by not talking about this because he is potentially thinking outside.’

“It’s a little crazy to say that I’m not supporting my people,” Khaled responded from another room upon hearing Nathan’s comments.

Khaled has spoken before about his background and before entering the house he said: ‘I’m Lebanese and Palestinian and I thought this would be a great platform to discuss it from the point of view of someone who grew up in the West and has Middle Eastern heritage.’

The 23-year-old also said that if he won the series he would donate the money to Palestine and Lebanon.

Nathan has been criticized for his “absolutely crazy” comments, and viewers are furious because they claim Khaled hasn’t talked about his culture and background enough for their liking.

‘Was what Nathan just said about Khaled absolutely crazy?’ What the fuck,” wrote @_g0ldustwoman.

“It’s so fucking evil what Nathan just said,” @caljj00 said.

‘Is Khaled not sharing enough traumatic experiences from his personal life for Nathan’s liking???’ @WrittenByDavid said.

“Khaled is a better man than me because he would drag Nathan to the grave,” @alexr_2411 added.

@eldserks wrote: ‘Is Nathan a real weirdo? Policing a Palestinian on how he talks about his own experiences is INSANE.’

@victoriasanusi added: ‘I’m still very surprised by what Nathan said about Khaled. Khaled is 23 years old and he still shows a lot of grace, impressive.”

@RyanJL added: ‘There is no such thing as “being fair to Nathan.” He thought it, he said it. He didn’t make any mistakes. He fell incredibly low when he didn’t have to and didn’t have the balls to admit it when Khaled pulled him over. Take it out.’

@adoomies3 echoed: ‘Nathan implying that Khaled doesn’t support Palestine/Lebanon because he hasn’t talked to HIM about it is actually very dangerous. He is an unpleasant man.

Later in the episode, Khaled and Nathan spoke about the comments, with the Mancunian telling King Charles’ former butler: “If you ever want to talk about it, I’m more than happy to have that conversation, because from my point of view “. I consider this to be a serious accusation.

‘That was the worst thing you could say to someone who is Palestinian, very profound.

“I’ve talked about it, you and I have always kept joking with each other, so it never came to that, you’ve never opened up about sensitive things with me.”

“Clearly my words were not correct,” Nathan admitted, to which Khaled politely responded that he would be happy to educate Nathan on the subject.

Big Brother host Will Best has also been criticized for “playing devil’s advocate” when it comes to Nathan’s comments, after one guest said it was a “cheap blow” and made them “uncomfortable.” “.

During Late and Live, Will said, ‘Do we think…playing (the devil’s advocate)… I don’t disagree, but do we think he was grasping at straws?’

Will then implied that Nathan was using an ‘excuse’ to respond to Khaled on the assignment, adding: ‘Khaled was an adult in the room, to be fair to Nathan, he made a mistake and clearly… put his hands up.’ .

“I’m sorry, but trying to defend Nathan’s comments about Khaled’s politics has really pissed me off, what Nathan said is indefensible, Will doesn’t and shouldn’t have to play devil’s advocate every fucking time.” ‘ @KINGVILLANELLE got mad at X.

‘Will Best with the excuses for shitty behavior ONCE MORE,’ said @valisonh.

This comes after Big Brother sparked complaints from Ofcom over a Pro-Palestine t-shirt that was removed from the episode by ITV.

His housemate Ali was wearing a Wear The Peace t-shirt in solidarity with Palestine amidst the ongoing warwhich has killed more than 42,000 people in Gaza since the Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7.

Ali was wearing a T-shirt that featured a watermelon in the shape of the disputed territories of Israel and Palestine on a map, and ITV later confirmed that the episode was edited to remove the image.

Before entering the show, Ali, originally from Leicester, said she thinks the way she expresses her opinions could “upset someone”.

She said: “If someone does something that I think maybe isn’t kind, or could have been a little better thought out, I have this thing I tend to say to people.” I can be quite direct.

“It doesn’t always turn out well; that could very well get me nominated.”

Big Brother continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV2.
