CHICO, California— A Chico man was arrested Thursday, Oct. 31, for sex crimes against several underage women, the Chico Police Department (CPD) said.

CPD said they found probable cause that Anthony Sermeno, 32, had committed multiple “unlawful sexual acts with several young women.”

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Sermeno after what they said was an extensive investigation.

On Thursday, CPD said detectives witnessed Sermeno loading a moving truck at a North Chico residence. When authorities approached, CPD said Sermeno attempted to flee inside the residence.

CPD said investigators were able to capture Sermeno and arrest him without incident. Sermeno has since been booked into the Butte County Jail.
