Ohio State seeks to intervene in Browns’ plans to move to Brook Park

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – According to Federal Court documents filed in the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio, State Attorney General Dave Yost wants to participate in the Browns’ lawsuit with the city over the Model Law.

19 News just obtained a court filing where the state says the team’s understanding of the state statute “is incorrect.”

The city promised to use the Model Law to prevent the Browns from moving to Brook Park.

The law requires teams that receive taxpayer money to give at least six months’ notice before leaving… or giving someone else the opportunity to buy the team.

In the filing, Yost asks the judge to allow the state to participate in the lawsuit, not just the city.
