16-year-old seriously injured in shooting at southwest Birmingham store

An investigation is underway after a teenager was seriously injured Wednesday night in a shooting in Birmingham.

Western District officers were notified around 10 p.m. that a 16-year-old male had shown up at Princeton Baptist Medical Center with a gunshot wound.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the preliminary investigation indicates the teen was shot at the Citgo at 2714 Pearson Avenue. Details about the shooting have not yet been released.

A store customer then took the teen to the hospital. The victim has life-threatening injuries.

Fitzgerald said no arrests have been made.
