Cases involving six defendants were heard Thursday by Judge M. James Chaney in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court in Vicksburg.

Derrick Easter: Easter, who pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in connection with a 2019 altercation on Jefferson Street in which shots were fired, was charged in May 2020 and has been in custody since. Easter faced a maximum sentence of 20 years and a $10,000 fine. The plaintiff was represented by Liem Walker. Walker recommended the maximum sentence of five years served with the remainder suspended, plus fines, court costs and restitution ordered, a sentence imposed by Chaney on Thursday.

Kory Grayer: Grayer’s bond was revoked Thursday. He is currently facing multiple charges and was sentenced to one year in prison for parole violations related to previous charges. Grayer was last arrested in August on charges of selling methamphetamine; trafficking in cocaine; trafficking in methamphetamine; trafficking in MDMA; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of a stolen firearm; and seven counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Amy Bradshaw: Branshaw was charged with uttering a forgery following an arrest in September 2020. She faces fees and fines from previous charges, which have not been paid. This case was originally in drug court, but has been transferred to the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Bradshaw was sentenced to seven years, with three years suspended and four years suspended. Bradshaw was also ordered to pay outstanding fines and fees.

Laquantia Levi Branch III: Branch faced parole revocation charges. He currently has outstanding fines that have not been paid. He received a three-year suspended sentence, was ordered to pay outstanding fines of $685 and his parole was turned over to authorities in Houston, where he lives and works.

Muriel Holmes: Holmes, who was convicted in 2017 on previous charges, was ordered to pay outstanding fines. The fines were originally estimated at $26,384. Holmes currently owes $23,465 in restitution to Trustmark Bank. Because Holmes violated the terms of her post-release agreement by failing to pay her fines, she was given a five-year suspended sentence and ordered to pay outstanding fines.

Proctor Shannone Jordan: Jordan pleaded guilty to marijuana possession and grand larceny in 2017. Although he was ordered to pay fines of more than $5,000 and regularly report to a probation officer, he had not met with his probation officer since 2021 and had he has not paid any outstanding fines. Chaney ordered Jordan to serve a suspended sentence for a total of eight years.
