The father and brother of South Korean Tottenham striker Heung-min Son have been found guilty of child abuse.

The father of Heung-min Son, the South Korean striker for Tottenham (Premier League), may have a very extreme idea of ​​disciplining the residents of the football academy he heads. Woong-jung Son, 62, was convicted of child abuse by a local court along with his other son, Heung-yun Son.

The verdict, a fine of 3 million won (just over 2,000 euros), was handed down on Friday by the court of Chuncheon, the city where the academy for football students is located. The parents of one of them reported that their son was hit with a corner flag by one of the two coaches and also had to deal with verbal abuse.

Woong-jung Son apologized

During the hearing, former international Woong-jung Son apologized and denied any wrongdoing. The Chuncheon academy, which will open in 2021, is largely funded by the Spurs forward. The center would have cost approximately 15 million euros.
