Postecoglou bag? Tottenham ‘priority target’ revealed in Ange ‘blow’ amid ‘losing patience’ claim

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set their “priority target” for the 2024/25 season and “it would be a huge blow” for Ange Postecoglou if they fail to achieve it.

The former Celtic manager took charge Tottenham ahead of the 2023/24 campaign and was praised at the start of last season when he overhauled his playing style following Antonio Conte’s tough spell on the bench.

Low posteocoglouSpurs struggled in the run-up, missing out on the Champions League, but it was still a successful debut season for the Australian.

However, Tottenham have had a frustrating start to the 2024/25 season, having won five, drawn one and lost five in their eleven Premier League games. Their run of results after the October international break was a mixed bag, as they beat Man City and Aston Villa, but lost to Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town.

This leaves Spurs tenth in the Premier League and Postecoglou is currently the fifth favorite to be the next coach fired.

A new report from Soccer insider information claims that Spurs have set their “priority objective” for this season as they “hope to get back into the Champions League” this season.

Postecoglou is said to have “a lot of credit in the bank” but “it would be a huge blow” if Spurs missed out on the Champions League.

‘The Australian has a lot of credit in the bank with club bosses after his first season in charge of Spurs, in which the club finished fifth.

“He has spoken publicly about his vision of winning a trophy with the Lilywhites, but Champions League qualification is believed to be the priority for the club.”

“Sources say missing out on Europe’s premier club competition would be a ‘blow’ to the manager’s long-term future as his contract runs until June 2027.”

A former Chelsea manager is the current favorite to replace Postecoglou, but The evening standard Correspondent Dan Kilpatrick has provided insight into “what Daniel Levy and the board are thinking” and insists they are “committed to seeing this through.”

“So, I don’t know what Levy and the board of directors are thinking. To be honest, I think all the noise from the club, they kind of accept that this is a medium-term venture,” Kilpatrick said on the Tottenham Way podcast.

“I mean, they’ve talked about being successful here and now, but they’ve also talked about building a team, that they want to be successful four or five years from now.

“And that has been obvious in the age profile of the players who signed, the three teenagers over the summer and two more who will arrive next year.

“So I think there’s some kind of commitment to seeing this through, or at least continuing to say where it’s going. But again, I can understand anyone associated with the Spurs who is losing a little patience or feeling frustrated.”
