The Bad Sisters cast has revealed the shocking climate conditions that saw them race to film a pivotal scene for season 2.

After two years off the screens, the Irish black comedy created by Sharon Horgan return to Apple Television today.

Follow the five Garvey sisters. – Eva (Sharon), Grace (Maria Ana Duff), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene) and Becka (Eve Hewson).

After Grace’s abusive and controlling husband, John Paul (Claes Bang) died unexpectedly in season 1, the sisters found themselves at the center of a life insurance investigation.

The upcoming episodes take place two years after JP’s death and, although the sisters are doing their best to move on with their lives, when a truth from the past resurfaces, they are “thrown back into the spotlight, suspicions are on their backs.” At its highest point, lies are told, secrets are revealed, and the sisters are forced to discover who they can trust.

This season is full of shocking twists and turns, but one of the happiest moments was marred by behind-the-scenes drama, the cast said. Metro in a recent interview.

The clifftop wedding scene in which Grace appears to finally have her happy ending coincided with the arrival of Storm Ciarán on the coast of Ireland.

Sharon called the experience “terrifying” and joked that at one point it was like “that scene on the Titanic when the band was playing” as the ship sank.

“We had this amazing band, Goitse, and at that time they still needed to capture the last moment of their performance and the rest of us had hidden from this storm,” he recalled when speaking to Metro.

Meanwhile, director Dearbhla Walsh said the three-day shoot to capture that sequence was “absolutely challenging.”

“At one point the marquee was going to take off and we had to move the scene from outside to inside,” he said.

Actress Anne-Marie said the cast and crew were in good spirits before the storm hit and “the sun was shining and the sea was calm”.

However, the next day they found themselves ‘practically in the middle of the hurricane’ and danced in wet dresses amid hurricane-force winds.

“So we were dancing in the horizontal rain pretending… but that’s an Irish wedding for you,” he joked.

However, Sharon admitted that the difficult weather conditions produced “some of the most authentic and compelling images.”

Storm Ciarán severely affected parts of Europe from late October to early November last year, killing 21 people in Italy and France.

There was widespread damage in the Channel Islands, where winds of up to 100 miles per hour were recorded. Ireland He escaped the worst of the storm, but faced heavy downpours.

Although initially conceived as a limited series, Bad Sisters turned out to be a huge success: it won the 2022 Bafta for best drama series and was nominated for four emmy awards – which was commissioned by another.

However, Sharon admitted she felt “enormous pressure” to deliver another stellar season.

“You feel like there’s a responsibility if people have invested in the show and really loved the characters, it scares you at the thought of not delivering on them,” he said.

“But at a certain point you need to ignore all that and focus on the story you want to tell and forget about the people and do what you think is the next best chapter for those characters.”

Although the cast believed the show was “well made,” during the season 1 movie, there was a feeling on set that it “could have more life.”

‘We would suggest things, but I don’t think any of them were taken into account! I think one of the ideas was that maybe JP had a sister who could come back and get revenge on the sisters. “We wanted him to come back and we were absolutely thrilled when he did,” Sarah shared.

Bad Sisters has been praised for having five women in the lead, with Anne-Marie explaining that it was “a pleasure to come to set every day and be supported by women”.

“What Sharon also does great is that there are five female leads at the center of this, which is very unusual, and they are all incredibly complex, layered, messy people,” he said.

‘That’s why I think people related to this show and we bonded. We spent eight months together and you can’t not do it. It was coming to work with your best friends, it was lovely.”

This season of the show also features the addition of Fiona Shaw, who plays Angelica, Roger’s (Michael Smiley) meddlesome sister, who creates tension as she tries to get to the bottom of the sisters’ secrets.

Bad Sisters season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, November 13. A weekly episode will follow, every Wednesday until December 25.
