Chinese mother claims staff negligence after son falls during ‘wild’ run in store, sparking debate

A mother in China who claimed compensation from a supermarket after her 11-year-old son fell and suffered a concussion in the store has been accused of passing money on social media.

The unidentified mother was found to have vandalized the Meixi Qingxiu branch of Alibaba’s Hema Xiansheng supermarket in central China’s Hunan province, where her son accidentally fell on October 19.

Alibaba is the owner of the South China Morning Post.

Video footage circulating online shows the boy running wild in the market before tripping, falling and passing out for a few seconds.

His mother took him to the hospital two days later and the boy was diagnosed with a concussion and a bruise on his scalp.

His mother blamed the store for not helping her son immediately and called an ambulance, returning to vandalize the store and demand compensation.
