In August, Grande herself addressed concerns from her fans, asking them not to “comment on (her) body,” after a photo comparison between her current appearance and her appearance after being named Billboard’s 2018 Woman of the Year began going viral on social media.

“The body you’ve been comparing my current body to was the less healthy version,” Grande said in a video posted to TikTok. “I was taking a lot of antidepressants, drinking and eating poorly. “It was the lowest point of my life.”

Ariana Grande’s weight has not been the only conversation that has clouded the film’s promotional tour. Fans have also criticized Cynthia Erivo for her reaction to a fan edition of the film’s poster in mid-October, as bored panda previously reported.

“This is the wildest and most offensive thing I have ever seen,” Erivo wrote, calling the image “degrading” and claiming it was an attempt to “(delete) it.”

The creator of the edit then took to social media to fendstating that the changes were made out of love for the original Broadway poster and in no way an attempt to offend the actress.

“Imagine, with the right cast, this movie had the potential to be a hit. Instead, they got a lead actress who thinks her role was made specifically for her and is abusive to the fans of the show,” one reader said of Erivo.

“This movie deserves to fail and will be less successful than Cats.”

“I am so devastated that they allowed (Ariana) to be Glinda. “Oz fans deserved better,” said another.

“I’m already tired of this movie and all the promotions,” wrote one viewer. “Ariana has some disorder. Why does she always make scared girl faces?

The film’s premiere in Los Angeles coincided with a controversy created by Mattel by mistakenly printing the URL of a NSFW website on the backs of their Elphaba and Glinda dolls. This caused a never-before-seen increase in visits to the site and sparked concern among parents.

Fans analyzed several photos of the singer and pointed out exactly why they think she might need help.

“Do you want us to believe that you are healthier than ever?” one viewer asked, and others joined in to question the actress’s health.
