ELKHART – A Wakarusa man was pronounced dead after a motorcycle accident in Elkhart County on Tuesday, November 12.

Around 5:31 a.m., deputies responded to a crash at CR 17 and SR 120. According to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, Krystal Gunter, 29, of Elkhart, was driving southbound on CR 17, in the left turn lane. Joseph Klein, 61, Wakarusa, was traveling north on CR 17 at SR 120. Gunter failed to yield and his vehicle collided with Klein’s Kawasaki motorcycle in a head-on collision.

Klein was transported to Elkhart General Hospital with internal injuries. Gunter was cited for no insurance and failure to yield right of way.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office received an update that Klein was pronounced deceased at Elkhart General Hospital.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office and the Elkhart County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
