Fujitsu boss tells Post Office inquiry he ‘doesn’t know’ if Horizon IT is trustworthy

Reynolds defends reparation proposalposted at 10:55 Greenwich Mean Time, November 11

Julian Blake continues to question Reynolds about the details of the repair plan.

He shows Reynolds a departmental email recommending that, from a public money perspective, people who reject the £75,000 lump sum in favor of an individual assessment should not be able to access the £75,000.

The amount should then be limited to £50,000, the email recommends.

Blake says this proposal has been criticized by some for putting pressure on plaintiffs.

Reynolds says the £50,000 sum was decided so that people could follow the path of individual assessment, without feeling a sense of danger pushing them into a course of action they did not want to follow.

It says the £50,000 is a “safety limit” so the repair post assessment is not significantly below the initial £75,000.

The decision was made to give people a “genuine choice” about what is the fair course of repair for them, Reynolds says.
