Man hit and killed on I-75 near Mitchell Avenue exit identified by coroner

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office Tuesday morning identified the man who was struck and killed while standing outside a disabled vehicle on Interstate 75.

According to the forensic report, the man was identified as Reco Williams, 47 years old.

Cincinnati police wrote in a news release that Williams, along with a 42-year-old woman, were inspecting a disabled 2012 Chevrolet Malibu on I-75 north near the Mitchell Avenue exit on Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle around 1:30 a.m.

Officers were called to the area and discovered that a 30-year-old man was driving a 2019 Honda Accord when he lost control and went off the interstate, police said.

The Honda ended up crashing into the Malibu, which then crashed into the Williams, according to the news release.

Williams was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment, but died from his injuries.

No one else was injured in the crash, police said.

Speeding or impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash, police said.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
