ICT issues arrest warrant against 4 police officers for July-August genocides

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today (November 12) issued an arrest warrant against four police officers, including former officer-in-charge (investigation) of Jatrabari Police Station, Jakir Hossain, for their alleged role in the murders. and genocides committed during the student period. led massive uprisings in July and August.

The three-judge panel of the ICT, headed by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order allowing a plea filed and presented by Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam.

Confirming the information to journalists, the ICT chief prosecutor said that the investigative body has found irrefutable evidence against the four for their
barbaric role during the massive uprising of July and August.

However, the chief prosecutor refrained from revealing the names of the other three defendants for security reasons.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Limon Hossain, who lost a leg after being shot by the Rapid Action Battalion in 2011, today submitted a petition to the ICT, calling for the abolition of the elite force.

Limon also advocated for the trial of former military advisor Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former RAB officer Ziaul Ahsan and RAB-8 officer Major Rashed and some others for their role in putting him through the ordeal.
